Ron Magness, Stand By Me,1982

A-Side Stand By Me.

B-Side Walking On Air

Vinyl Download

I bought this originally because I liked this synth cover version but it is the B-Side that is the real gem of a song, Walking On Air is a fantastic piece of synthpop perfection.

Ron made as far as I know only three singles, if anyone has anymore info I´d be interested to hear from you.

I loved Roy´s previous band White & Torch and have always loved Roy´s voice. This solo album is excellent with twelve songs crammed on to vinyl ( a CD release would be fantastic).
The album includes two singles Lets We Forget and Strange To Be With You, both deserved to be hits. The album includes some fabulous songs among the highlights are,Criminal Mind, Ice On The Sun (which would of made a fab single) Nothing To Remind Me Reputation and the title track Shanty.
As far as I know this was Roys only solo album, Roy was also in the rock band King Of Fools, they released a self titled album in 1991 which included two singles. Here is a track from the album.

He later went on to form The Trumen who have made some excellent music which you can hear at their My Space site Here(listen to Blood and Alcohol just brilliant) They have released an album called Deadly Nightshade which I can´t find anywhere (It´s not available on Spanish iTunes!!) and are still gigging.

An excellent album from Thomas Lang, this included the gorgeous single The Longest Song which should of been a massive hit. The album has quality tunes throughout and also includes a fab cover of From Russia With Love composed by John Barry.
I have seen Thomas live many times over the years and it has always been a joy to hear his great voice live. A very underated artist.

I first bought this album because A, I liked the sleeve and B, it was only a 50p bargain bin puck.I wasnt dissapointed. I have just bought it again and payed quit a bit more than 50p but again great to here this lost band again.

the album included two singles which didn´t chart 8-3-12 and Over You both great tracks, I have also included their other single not on the album, Pink Slippers/Skegaway again this was worthy of a chart placing, perhaps because their sound was very similar to the Police.
Other tracks I love are Sole Survivor and Too Long A Night

The band were in a competition called Battle Of The Bands in 1980, they didnt win but were signed up before the final of the competition. Time Flys won the battle.
